PLEASE HELP! im really confused?!?! :(?

What is natural selection and intelligent design? I know about evolution and creationism, but what are these? Is intelligent design just believing that there is a "designer". Not neccesarly God, just some sort of designer? Am I on the right track? But what is natural selection then?
