Should I choose swirly lightblubs or the normal ones?

I know swirly lightbulbs help save the environment but they have a toxic gas inside. If I accidentally break a swirly bulb there is a 50/50 chance I might get sick. If I choose a normal bulb that takes up too much energy and my daughter's doing this big thing on recycling and conserving so what should I do?
