How can a malaysian malays legally convert to christian?

With great difficulty. Look up Lina Joy (who is also Malaysian). She was born muslim, then converted to Christian. She changed her name but while the law states they can change religion (on their ID cards) she was not allowed to do so when she went to the courts. I believe she took it to the Supreme Court (or equivelent in Malaysia) and it was denied.
